WHAT WE FUND
The Foundation of St. Andrew’s supports the transformational ministries of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and connects donors to charitable legacies.
We’re growing! We currently manage 15 endowed funds with more than $1.2 million in assets organized into four focus areas: Mission and Outreach, Music Ministry, Christian Education and Youth, and Other Ministry Priorities.
Grants are distributed each year, with $45,000 given in 2024, the largest annual amount to date. Since its inception in 2000, The Foundation has provided $321,000 in grant awards to St. Andrew’s extended ministries, honoring the charitable intentions of dozens of generous donors.
Mission & Outreach
- Community Resource Center: Supports St. Andrew’s Community Resource Center, which provides resources and services to unhoused individuals and families.
- Mission Jamaica: Supports projects (including home construction, children’s education and care, and medical assistance) through the Mission Jamaica ministry.
- Vision Slovakia: Supports the work of The Center for Christian Education (CCE) in Martin, Slovakia, a long-standing St. Andrew’s mission partner.
- Bega Kwa Bega: Supports project and initiatives for St. Andrew’s emerging partnership with the Kipanga Parish in Tanzania.
- Habitat for Humanity: Supports efforts of St. Andrew’s volunteer team through the Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity homebuilding program.
Music Ministry
- Jan Gilbertson Music Ministry: Supports St. Andrew’s exceptional music ministry to strengthen and sustain the worship experience.
- The Mighty Organ: Supports musical programming, maintenance, and enhancements for St. Andrew’s magnificent pipe organ.
Christian Education & Youth
- Spark Bibles: Supports purchase of Bibles for children, presented in worship as part of St. Andrew’s Skipping Stones Ministry.
- Youth Ministry: Supports St. Andrew’s youth ministry programs as young people grow in their faith and within a nurturing faith community.
- Youth Mental Health: Supports St. Andrew’s expanding efforts to provide mental health services and resources to youth and their families.
- Seminary Scholarships: Provides financial support to future Christian leaders as they pursue graduate theological and pastoral education.
Other Ministry Priorities
- Environmental Stewardship: Supports Andrew’s environmental stewardship efforts as a response to carefully tend to and restore God’s Creation.
- Pastoral Care: Supports St. Andrew’s pastors and care ministry teams as they serve individuals and families facing life’s challenges.
- General Church Operations: Supports St. Andrew’s ongoing operational expenses to augment the church’s annual budget.
- Undesignated Fund: Supports current and emerging ministry priorities as identified by The Foundation board and St. Andrew’s church leadership.
