Preschool & Elementary

Sunday School

We invite your children to join us on Sundays for age-appropriate lessons and fun that will encourage them to live in faith every day for their stage of life.

Sanctuary (Traditional worship) at 9 a.m. or 10:30 a.m., Great Hall (Contemporary worship) at 9:30 a.m.

Preschool Bible Blessing

The Preschool Bible Blessing, designed for children ages 3-5, involves an interactive parent-child workshop and presentation of Bibles during worship and generally happens in the fall.

As preschoolers enter their first year of Children’s Education (our children’s ministry program offered during worship services), we recognize the beginning of this journey by presenting them with a children’s story Bible. As they are introduced to God’s Word, they learn the foundational stories of faith, about God’s love for them and for all people, and about the life and teachings of Jesus.

First Communion

Holy Communion, one of two sacraments offered in the Lutheran Church, brings the fellowship of believers to the Lord’s Table. St. Andrew’s practices open communion, believing that all are welcome to receive the gift of God’s grace, regardless of age, background, or circumstance. First Communion instruction is provided as an opportunity for children to learn more about this special practice and prepare them to receive it.

Third Grade Bible Blessings

As children transition to becoming independent readers, we fulfill the baptismal promise to “place into their hands the holy scriptures” by gifting them an advanced version of the Bible. During elementary school years, children are captivated by the Bible’s dramatic stories, the life of biblical times, and learning more about Jesus and the message God has for us through the Word. The Third Grade Bible Blessing Skipping Stone involves participating in a workshop and a celebration and blessing of children during worship.
