This group will be facilitated by Micki Smith\, a member of our congregation who has traveled a cancer journey of her own. In 2016 Micki was diagnosed with Stage 3B Appendiceal Cancer and subsequently went through surgery and extensive chemotherapy. She is very grateful to be alive today. During her journey\, Micki was able to connect with someone else with cancer. Together they walked with Christ\, and were able to provide each other much-needed comfort and support. In Micki’s own words “God nudged me to help connect with others confronted with cancer–both survivors and caregivers. My desire is to offer fellowship which will be centered around God’s love and support for us.” \n\n\n\nThis support group is offered both in-person and via Zoom. \n\n\n\nPlease contact Micki Smith at 763.913.4048 with questions. \n\n\n\nRegistration is requested.

DESCRIPTION:St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church is offering an in-person\, facilitated support group for those who are experiencing the loss of loved ones. The hope for the group is that members have an opportunity to share\, listen\, and support each other\, and move toward healing. The group will be facilitated by a St. Andrew’s pastor or Care Lay Minister. Meetings will be held in St. Andrew’s Great Hall building in the Dot Room every other Thursday evening from 4:30-6pm. You can join the group any time during the winter/spring session. There is no cost to attend. DESCRIPTION:January 15 & 22The Holy Land Today:Respecting Both Sides of the Israeli/Palestinian Conflict MIKE BUSSEYThe first session includes an historical overview of the conflict\, highlighting key events of the past century and a discussion on the demographics and political issues present today. The second week provides an overview of core issues at the heart of the conflict\, including territorial disputes\, security concerns\, refugee rights\, and Jerusalem and status of settlements. The conversation will address challenges Christians face in understanding the conflict and strategies for fostering understanding and respect for both Israeli and Palestinian narratives— all in an effort to bring about peace and healing in our world. \n\n\n\nOur premiere adult education ministry includes inspiring weekly LIFE Talks and small group connections through LIFE Groups. During his tenure in Jerusalem\, the YMCA was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize to recognize their peace-building efforts in the Middle East.
