DESCRIPTION:Our Skipping Stones ministry celebrates six significant moments in a child’s journey of life and faith\, starting with baptism and continuing through high school graduation. Just as stones skip across water\, creating ripples at various points\, our young people experience God’s grace breaking into their lives at different times and places. First Communion instruction is provided as an opportunity for children to learn more about Holy Communion and prepare them to receive it. Students in Grades 1-5 participate in a workshop with at least one parent. Then their First Communion is celebrated during a worship service. Two opportunities are provided each year—in the fall and in the spring (during Holy Week).

DESCRIPTION:Animal Angels training is for adults and therapy dogs who wish to visit care facilities\, hospitals\, schools\, libraries\, shelters\, and hospice partners in the metro area\, primarily Washington County. Training is open to any dog owner willing to commit to at least one hour per month visit in the following year\, plus attending monthly in-service meetings (September through May) during the first year of service. The training class includes: \n\n\n\n\nPreparation for the national Therapy Dog Registration test.\n\n\n\nCoverage of facility requirements\, aging and illness\, and conversational skills for a respectful and meaningful visit.There is no charge for the training\, though therapy dog registration organizations charge a nominal testing fee ($10) and an annual registration fee (approximately $50) that includes insurance coverage.
