DESCRIPTION:As children transition to becoming independent readers\, we give them (Grades 3-5) a Bible that fits their reading level. Elementary kids are captivated by the Bible’s dramatic stories\, the life of biblical times\, and learning more about Jesus and the message God has for us. The Upper Elementary Bible Blessing involves participating in a workshop and a celebration and blessing of children during the service. Workshop date options are Saturday\, January 11\, or Wednesday\, January 15. The Celebrations in the service are February 1 or 2.

DESCRIPTION:January 15 & 22The Holy Land Today:Respecting Both Sides of the Israeli/Palestinian Conflict MIKE BUSSEYThe first session includes an historical overview of the conflict\, highlighting key events of the past century and a discussion on the demographics and political issues present today. The second week provides an overview of core issues at the heart of the conflict\, including territorial disputes\, security concerns\, refugee rights\, and Jerusalem and status of settlements. The conversation will address challenges Christians face in understanding the conflict and strategies for fostering understanding and respect for both Israeli and Palestinian narratives— all in an effort to bring about peace and healing in our world. \n\n\n\nOur premiere adult education ministry includes inspiring weekly LIFE Talks and small group connections through LIFE Groups. During his tenure in Jerusalem\, the YMCA was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize to recognize their peace-building efforts in the Middle East.

DESCRIPTION:Preschool Bibles are one of St. Andrew’s Skipping Stones for children and youth. As preschoolers enter their first year of Sunday School\, we recognize the beginning of their Christian education journey by presenting them with a children’s story Bible. As they are introduced to God’s Word\, they learn the foundational stories of faith\, of God’s love for them and all people\, and the life and teachings of Jesus. Children participate in a 45-minute parent/child workshop to learn more about their new Bible. Then we will bless the Bibles and families in our next All-In worship service. Workshop options are January 11 or 15. The Celebrations in the service are February 1 or 2.

DESCRIPTION:As children transition to becoming independent readers\, we give them (Grades 3-5) a Bible that fits their reading level. Elementary kids are captivated by the Bible’s dramatic stories\, the life of biblical times\, and learning more about Jesus and the message God has for us. The Upper Elementary Bible Blessing involves participating in a workshop and a celebration and blessing of children during the service. Workshop date options are Saturday\, January 11\, or Wednesday\, January 15. The Celebrations in the service are February 1 or 2.

DESCRIPTION:Preschool Bibles are one of St. Andrew’s Skipping Stones for children and youth. As preschoolers enter their first year of Sunday School\, we recognize the beginning of their Christian education journey by presenting them with a children’s story Bible. As they are introduced to God’s Word\, they learn the foundational stories of faith\, of God’s love for them and all people\, and the life and teachings of Jesus. Children participate in a 45-minute parent/child workshop to learn more about their new Bible. Then we will bless the Bibles and families in our next All-In worship service. Workshop options are January 11 or 15. The Celebrations in the service are February 1 or 2.

DESCRIPTION:Thursday at 7:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe one-hour interactive workshop via Zoom covers what baptism is\, what it means for you and/or your child\, tips for raising a family of faith\, and what the day of baptism will look like. \n\n\n\nThe class will cover: What baptism means in the Lutheran tradition\, how to prepare for your child’s baptism\, what to expect on the day of their baptism\, godparents and how to select them\, nurturing faith at home beyond your child’s baptism day\, and more! You’ll have the opportunity to connect with other St. Andrew’s families\, and have any of your remaining questions about baptism answered. \n\n\n\nPlease gather these items and have them nearby at the Zoom meeting: A “faith object” (for show-and-tell)— something in your home that reminds you of your faith or helps you practice your faith\, a small bowl of water (for a blessing)\, and a Bible (you can Google for our readings if you don’t have a Bible available). \n\n\n\nYour children are more than welcome to join us during the meeting\, but they are not required to be present. We understand that some of you will need to move on-and-off-screen to tend to the needs of your little ones during our time together.
