Stick around for our Flourish Together Volunteer Training\, which begins at 6:30pm each of those nights. Peer Ministry Founder Lyle Griner will lead sessions focused on listening\, conversation\, and group facilitation—skills all of us can use in our jobs\, as we volunteer\, and as we create community wherever we go. Cost of dinner is “pay-as-you’re able\,” with a suggested donation of $6-8 for adults.

DESCRIPTION:Early Childhood\n\n\n\n\n\nMonday at 1:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nThe one-hour interactive workshop via Zoom covers what baptism is\, what it means for you and/or your child\, tips for raising a family of faith\, and what the day of baptism will look like. \n\n\n\nThe class will cover: What baptism means in the Lutheran tradition\, how to prepare for your child’s baptism\, what to expect on the day of their baptism\, godparents and how to select them\, nurturing faith at home beyond your child’s baptism day\, and more! You’ll have the opportunity to connect with other St. Andrew’s families\, and have any of your remaining questions about baptism answered. \n\n\n\nPlease gather these items and have them nearby at the Zoom meeting: A “faith object” (for show-and-tell)— something in your home that reminds you of your faith or helps you practice your faith\, a small bowl of water (for a blessing)\, and a Bible (you can Google for our readings if you don’t have a Bible available). \n\n\n\nYour children are more than welcome to join us during the meeting\, but they are not required to be present. We understand that some of you will need to move on-and-off-screen to tend to the needs of your little ones during our time together. Singers and musicians of all skill levels\, select this track to be instructed by our own resident musicians Andy Haase and Bill Chouinard. Weekly on Sunday morning\, you will learn new music together with your peers and work toward performing live during our Affirmation of Baptism service. It’s always a joy to sing together and honor God through praise and worship\, especially when you get to do it with your peers in a safe environment. SUMMARY:ANIMAL ANGELS THERAPY DOG TRAINING
DESCRIPTION:Animal Angels training is for adults and therapy dogs who wish to visit care facilities\, hospitals\, schools\, libraries\, shelters\, and hospice partners in the metro area\, primarily Washington County. Training is open to any dog owner willing to commit to at least one hour per month visit in the following year\, plus attending monthly in-service meetings (September through May) during the first year of service. The training class includes: \n\n\n\n\nPreparation for the national Therapy Dog Registration test.\n\n\n\nCoverage of facility requirements\, aging and illness\, and conversational skills for a respectful and meaningful visit.There is no charge for the training\, though therapy dog registration organizations charge a nominal testing fee ($10) and an annual registration fee (approximately $50) that includes insurance coverage. SUMMARY:CANCER CONNECT - FALL/WINTER
DESCRIPTION:If you are a cancer survivor\, caregiver\, or have a loved-one with cancer\, we welcome you to join us for fellowship. This group will be facilitated by Micki Smith\, a member of our congregation who has traveled a cancer journey of her own. In 2016 Micki was diagnosed with Stage 3B Appendiceal Cancer and subsequently went through surgery and extensive chemotherapy. She is very grateful to be alive today. During her journey\, Micki was able to connect with someone else with cancer. Together they walked with Christ\, and were able to provide each other much-needed comfort and support. In Micki’s own words “God nudged me to help connect with others confronted with cancer–both survivors and caregivers. My desire is to offer fellowship which will be centered around God’s love and support for us.” \n\n\n\nCancer Connect will be co-facilitated by Jocelyn Gorham\, Faith Community Nurse. She has had personal experience as the primary caregiver for a family member diagnosed with cancer. DESCRIPTION:St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church offers an in-person\, facilitated support group for those experiencing the loss of loved ones. The group gives members an opportunity to share\, listen\, and support each other to move toward healing. The group will be facilitated by a St. Andrew’s Pastor or Care Lay Minister in the Dot Room of the Great Hall. You can join the group at any time during the 8-week session. There is no cost to attend. To learn more about the group please contact Lisa Grundtner. \n\n\n\nMeeting in the Great Hall Dot Room every other Thursday evening from 4:30-6pm\, September 5 through December 19\, 2024. \n\n\n\nOn December 19 there will be a special Advent Candlelight Remembrance to conclude this series of meetings.
