SUMMARY:ANIMAL ANGELS THERAPY DOG TRAINING
DESCRIPTION:Animal Angels training is for adults and therapy dogs who wish to visit care facilities\, hospitals\, schools\, libraries\, shelters\, and hospice partners in the metro area\, primarily Washington County. Training is open to any dog owner willing to commit to at least one hour per month visit in the following year\, plus attending monthly in-service meetings (September through May) during the first year of service. The training class includes: \n\n\n\n\nPreparation for the national Therapy Dog Registration test.\n\n\n\nCoverage of facility requirements\, aging and illness\, and conversational skills for a respectful and meaningful visit.There is no charge for the training\, though therapy dog registration organizations charge a nominal testing fee ($10) and an annual registration fee (approximately $50) that includes insurance coverage. MICHELLE STEFFENHAGEN is Coordinator for Wellbeing at Bethel University\, a professional coach\, and certified cultural intelligence facilitator. Michelle has completed graduate work in mental health and holds a doctorate in education from Bethel University.
