SUMMARY:CANCER CONNECT - WINTER/SPRING 2026
DESCRIPTION:This group is for cancer survivors\, caregivers\, or those who have a loved one dealing with cancer. You can join a new group anytime! All are welcome\, not just those who attend St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. (Masks required to protect the immunocompromised.) Group Facilitator Micki Smith has traveled a cancer journey of her own. After Micki was diagnosed in 2016\, she had surgery and was treated with chemotherapy. During her journey\, Micki bonded with another cancer patient and they were able to provide each other much-needed comfort and support. This support group is offered in-person and via Zoom. One-on-one sessions available upon request.

DESCRIPTION:The one-hour interactive workshop via Zoom covers what baptism is\, what it means for you and/or your child\, tips for raising a family of faith\, and what the day of baptism will look like. \n\n\n\nThe class will cover: What baptism means in the Lutheran tradition\, how to prepare for your child’s baptism\, what to expect on the day of their baptism\, godparents and how to select them\, nurturing faith at home beyond your child’s baptism day\, and more! You’ll have the opportunity to connect with other St. Andrew’s families\, and have any of your remaining questions about baptism answered. \n\n\n\nPlease gather these items and have them nearby at the Zoom meeting: A “faith object” (for show-and-tell)— something in your home that reminds you of your faith or helps you practice your faith\, a small bowl of water (for a blessing)\, and a Bible (you can Google for our readings if you don’t have a Bible available). \n\n\n\nYour children are more than welcome to join us during the meeting\, but they are not required to be present. We understand that some of you will need to move on-and-off-screen to tend to the needs of your little ones during our time together. This group provides a safe and caring space to share stories\, listen deeply\, and walk alongside one another on the path toward healing. The group will be facilitated by Zanny Johnson\, a certified grief educator and spiritual director. Sessions meet on Thursday evening\, 4:30–6pm in the new Great Hall Lounge. You’re welcome to join at any time during the 9-week session. There is no cost to attend. \n\n\n\nWINTER 2026 Session Dates – January 8\, 15\, 22\, 29\, February 5\, 12\, 19\, 26\, March 5ABOUT THE FACILITATORZanny Johnson is a certified grief educator and spiritual director who brings deep compassion and wisdom to her work with grieving individuals. She serves as Connections Coordinator at Trinity Lutheran in Stillwater\, MN\, and has led grief support groups at both Trinity and Luther Seminary. Zanny received her grief educator certification under noted grief expert David Kessler.Zanny also has a long history with St. Andrew’s—her first role here was as junior high youth director in 1990\, and her three daughters were baptized at St. Andrew’s. She is a lifelong singer\, having performed with the Good News Band (1995–2006) and\, most recently\, with the National Lutheran Choir.

Dinner is available 4:45-6:15pm in the Sanctuary Fellowship Hall. All are welcome!   \n\n\n\nSuggested donation is $4-6 for children (ages 3 and up) and $6-8 for adults. Cash\, check\, debit/credit cards\, and Apple Pay are accepted. “Pay-as-you’re able!” VOLUNTEER! We can use your help!
