DESCRIPTION:The one-hour interactive workshop via Zoom covers what baptism is\, what it means for you and/or your child\, tips for raising a family of faith\, and what the day of baptism will look like. \n\n\n\nThe class will cover: What baptism means in the Lutheran tradition\, how to prepare for your child’s baptism\, what to expect on the day of their baptism\, godparents and how to select them\, nurturing faith at home beyond your child’s baptism day\, and more! You’ll have the opportunity to connect with other St. Andrew’s families\, and have any of your remaining questions about baptism answered. \n\n\n\nPlease gather these items and have them nearby at the Zoom meeting: A “faith object” (for show-and-tell)— something in your home that reminds you of your faith or helps you practice your faith\, a small bowl of water (for a blessing)\, and a Bible (you can Google for our readings if you don’t have a Bible available). \n\n\n\nYour children are more than welcome to join us during the meeting\, but they are not required to be present. We understand that some of you will need to move on-and-off-screen to tend to the needs of your little ones during our time together. SUMMARY:FIRST COMMUNION SKIPPING STONE WORKSHOP & CELEBRATION - SPRING 2026
DESCRIPTION:Our Skipping Stones ministry celebrates six significant moments in a child’s journey of life and faith\, starting with baptism and continuing through high school graduation. Just as stones skip across water\, creating ripples at various points\, our young people experience God’s grace breaking into their lives at different times and places. First Communion instruction is provided as an opportunity for children to learn more about Holy Communion and prepare them to receive it. Students in Grades 1-5 participate in a workshop with at least one parent. Then their First Communion is acknowledged and blessed during a worship service. Two opportunities are provided each year—in the fall and in the spring (during Holy Week).
