Household Items Needed For Families!
This time of the year is always a big transition time for residents at East Metro Women’s Council, which is a transitional housing program in our community that houses over 400 people per year (including over 200 children under the age of 5 years old). This summer they will be taking in 15 new families, previously homeless, that will need many items as most come with only the clothes on their backs!
Basic household goods that are needed are: dishes, silverware, pots and pans, fans, alarm clocks, vacuum cleaners, beds, dressers, lamps, couches, chairs kitchen tables and chairs, new pillows, gently used clean blankets, linens, cribs (no drop sides and slats no more than 3” apart), high chairs, strollers. Please make sure the items are clean and in good shape. If you have something to donate please contact Cheryl Schindler at 651-773-8401 X134 or e-mail. Donations are only accepted if they've been contacted first.
Make sure to let her know that you are coming from St. Andrew's and that we care about the work that they are doing with those families that would otherwise be homeless! Welcome Previously Homeless Families To Their New Home!
St. Andrew's will be supplying each family moving into East Metro Women's Council transitional housing with a "Welcome Home" Basket of cleaning supplies and an inspirational note of hope and encouragement. These families live right here in our own community and are appreciative of the support and encouragement that our congregation gives them.
You can help by supplying laundry baskets, brooms, dustpans, mops, towels, wash cloths, toilet bowl scrubbers, laundry soap, all-purpose cleaner, window cleaner, furniture polish, family sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, tooth brushes, and inspirational wall plaques, or by writing notes of encouragement and hope for these families. Please place these donations in the Great Hall or Sanctuary Narthex donation bin.
Cash donations are also accepted, so we can purchase needed items to fill the baskets and for other needed household items (like vacuum cleaners). Together we can make a difference in the lives of those in our community who are homeless or struggle with poverty! Jewelry and Bobbers
The Stillwater Senior Center is hosting the annual “Baubles, Bangles and Bobbers Used Jewelry Sale” on Thursday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please consider donating your used jewelry, jewelry boxes and/or gently used purses to a great cause. Also, we are looking for small sporting goods, such as fishing lures, tackle, golf items, etc. for our special room for “the guys.” Proceeds from the fundraiser help to provide quality programs, classes and educational opportunities for participants. Donations will he accepted until July 30 and can be dropped off at the Stillwater Senior Center, 2300 W. Orleans Street or in the designated church donation box in the Narthex.
