6th Grade Confirmation Ministry |
CrossWinds Confirmation Orientation (6th grade)
Wednesday, Sept. 8, 6:45 to 8 p.m. in the Great Hall
This is your first year in Confirmation and we want to start it off with a bang! We will gather in the Great Hall to begin this Faith Skipping Stone in Worship. Then we will answer every question you have about this ministry, the expectations, the retreats and the faith transformation that will happen.
CrossWinds Kick-Off
Friday, Sept. 17, 7 to 9:30 p.m. & Saturday, Sept. 10, 9 a.m. to noon at the Youth & Sports Center
We take Friday night and Saturday morning to bring the group together as one class. Large group games, songs, food, and fellowship will be the general focus of this Christ-centered time. Our pastor of Children, Youth and Family, along with the Youth Team will lead activities to bond our group.
CrossWinds
CrossWinds is the first stage of our confirmation program at St. Andrew’s. It focuses on the fundamentals of faith: becoming familiar with the Bible, Sacraments and Church life such as Worship, Prayer and the Church year.
This is also an opportunity for many families to return to the church who may have not been as engaged. So, we are very intentional in getting kids and families connected with each other as well as with God, through large and small group learning times.
All of the Pastors of St. Andrew’s Lutheran church have the chance to teach the large groups while adults and high schoolers guide the youth in small groups. It is during this time youth are beginning to learn faith language and see where God is in their daily lives.
Our Goals for 6th Grade are:
· To teach the fundamentals of faith.
· To build relationships with peers from various schools
· To connect our youth with adults, other than their parents, in order to share the faith.
· To build community, which is rooted in Christ (which makes this community different than any other)
· To select a Class Hymn that will be used through out their high school career at St. Andrew’s (Confirmation, Blessing of the Keys, Baccalaureate, etc)
