CrossRoads Confirmation Orientation (9th grade)
Wednesday, Sept. 8, 6:45 to 8 p.m. in the Sanctuary
Youth are now entering into their final stage of Confirmation. In a few short months they will make their public affirmation of their faith and complete this Faith Skipping Stone. In order to kick the this session of right we need to meet to go over all the many details about the retreat, the interviews, the robes, stoles, and Worship Service.
CrossRoads
As youth prepare for the final stage of their Confirmation journey they encounter the CrossRoads ministry. This year we will be taking an in-depth look at what Spiritual Gifts are and which ones each of the youth have been given. We know that when youth are affirmed of their gifts and then are given the opportunity to serve using those gifts they are more likely to be transformed and stay involved in their faith life.
Before their 8th grade year is over, youth will take a Spiritual Gift Inventory and that information will all be gathered during the summer. In their small groups in September and October, youth will explore what these gifts are, where their gifts came from, and how they are being called to use them in the future.
On Confirmation Sunday, they will receive information and invitations to participate in ministries and communities that match their gifts. The goal is that by Confirmation Sunday, youth will be able to claim their gifts as their own and are equipped to serve in ministries in which they are passionate about and enjoy. It is not mandatory that youth participate in these groups once confirmed. However, our hope is that families would encourage youth to attend at least one of these ministry opportunities and that they would want to participate since it is based on their gifts and passions.
